Player Skill Expectations
An advanced beginner or intermediate pickleball player is expected to have a basic understanding of the game’s rules and scoring. They should be able to serve and return serves with some consistency, though their shots may lack precision and control. Advanced beginners can execute basic forehand and backhand groundstrokes but may struggle with volleys and dinks. Their movement and positioning on the court are developing, and they are beginning to understand the importance of teamwork in doubles play. Overall, advanced beginner and intermediate players focus on keeping the ball in play and gaining comfort with the game’s fundamental techniques. This league utilizes DUPR to ensure accurate and consistent player ratings, helping to create balanced and competitive matches.
What is DUPR?
DUPR, or the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating, is a system used to rate pickleball players based on their skill level and match performance. It uses data from players’ match results to calculate a dynamic rating that reflects their current playing ability, ensuring fair and competitive play across different leagues and tournaments.
