Extended Lights at Outdoor parks

Parks and Rec has agreed to start the summer schedule for extended lighting early this year. The lights will be available until 11:00 p.m. beginning March 1st. AN ADDED BONUS for early birds is that lights will be available for early morning players starting at 6:00 a.m. on March 1st.

Member of the Month

We are pleased to announce the PCCC March Member of the Month is Jay Palmore.
Jay has helped organize play at several locations in the county which include Stonebridge, Ramsey UMC, Bon Air UMC and Harry Daniel Park (HD) and taken on a coordinating position. At Harry Daniel, Jay selflessly took figurative ownership of the courts: from mending fences and wind screens to seeing that Parks and Recreation was notified when nets were down (when he couldn’t repair them himself). At Ramsey, he is always there to set up and take down nets and dividers, keep the players rotating on and off the courts, collect the donations for the church, and coordinate with church staff.
He can be found most days of the week, playing with newbies to high level players offering (free) instruction.
Many current competitive players were Jay’s protégés.
Always positive and supportive, Jay Palmore is the face of pickleball we should all strive to be!

New Windscreens at CTC

New windscreens for CTC have been purchased and will be installed and maintained by Parks and Rec on a regular basis. So now, our responsibility will be to keep the courts clean and clear of bottles and trash. Thank you to James Weathersby for doing such a good job with this. The awnings will go back up in mid April.

Saturday Parking at Rockwood

A new Spanish Market will open on Saturdays at Rockwood Park. They will be using 1/2 of the upper parking lot on that day so parking for pickleball may be impacted. Food trucks will be a part of this so you may want to stop by for lunch or mid-morning snack after playing some pickleball.

See you on the courts!

Linda Scott
