Fall Leagues
The registration process for the ever-popular Fall Leagues is going on-line, with the indispensable programming help of PCCC member Colby Rogness. The system will be up and running later this month and provides a transparent and efficient way of registering on-line. Paper and PDF forms are going away. Kudos to our fabulous League Commissioner Lynze Kapp for organizing this wonderful array of leagues! All details are at the end of this newsletter. When we confirm the date registration opens, you will receive an email with a link to register on line. ETA is August 15.

Advanced Draft League - If a player is interested in joining the advanced 4.0+ level draft pool, email Greg Walls at [email protected].

Fixed Partner – Two fixed partner leagues are offered.
If interested, establish your fixed partner soon.

UPDATE OF COURTS

SPC: Rockwood will be closed until at least Friday. Parks and Rec will check again to make sure they are dry enough to play on.
Huguenot: Work will begin on these courts on Thursday of this week. No projected time for this to be completed. There is a lot of shade on these courts so it make take a while to cure properly.
HD: Working with Parks and Rec on some repairs and upgrades

PCCC Membership Growth
We now have over 2300 members.

Parks and Rec Fall Registration
The Autumn Program Guide for Chesterfield Parks and Rec will be on line about August 15th with registration starting at 8:30 a.m. on August 21st. Classes for pickleball and many other areas of interest will be included. (This is not for Pickleball League signup.) Many classes like Aerobics, Active and Fit, Yoga, etc. are all good for conditioning to allow you to play pickleball better and longer. Consider some of these classes for good health and fitness.

County Parks and Rec Survey
Please complete the Chesterfield Survey to communicate your Pickleball passion. This requires about 10 minutes and provides meaningful input from pickleball players to the County. When you do, please let me know by emailing me at [email protected] I am trying to maintain an appx count. So far, about 75 players have completed the survey so we have a ways to go for a Club of 2,300. Please take a few minutes and click on the link above to complete the survey.

Official Player Ratings Available – DUPR
We have a new official partnership with DUPR Pickleball Rating, the most accurate global rating system in the sport. DUPR stands for “Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating.” If you would like to keep your rating up to date, you have the option of registering for a free account. Ratings may be utilized for entry into some PCCC leagues and for use in entering tournaments.
With DUPR, all points scored in a match affect your rating – not just wins or losses like traditional ranking systems.
DUPR works as follows:
1 – Points Won – How many points did you win against your opponent?
2 – History – Your last 60 matches
3 – Victory – Winner Bonus for victory
Novice 2.0 – 2.99 Intermediate 3.0 – 3.99 Advanced 4.0 – 4.99 Pro 5.0 – 8.0
If you are interested in getting your DUPR rating, download the Apple or Google Play App.

Fall League Details
Submitted by PCCC League Commissioner Lynze Kapp

This season is going to be so much fun out on the courts! We are proud to offer a variety of leagues that span all skill levels. Leagues will start on Tuesday, September 5th- October 30th. Leagues are 6 weeks long with an additional 2 weeks for rain makeups, extra play or playoffs. Please check the website for more information at https://chesterfieldpickleball.club/

Please check to see if coordinator approval is required (highlighted in red) before the start of registration & send them an email expressing your interest. Note that obtaining Coordinator Approval does NOT mean you are registered - it is merely a requirement for registration. All registrations are on a first-come/first serve basis. Coordinators may approve more spots than are available, as roster completion is based on sign-ups. The draft leagues will be drafting before registration. No players will be eligible for the draft after August 13th & not all players will be drafted. Drafts occur before registration to allow those not drafted time to choose another great league. We hope to see y’all out on the courts with us this season!

If any players have questions regarding leagues in general, please email the PCCC League Commissioner, Lynze Kapp at [email protected]

Wow! How is that for a Fall line up? Thank you Lynze and the coordinators who volunteer their time to provide league play for those who enjoy it. We are all looking toward a great Autumn League Season.

Thanks to Parks and Rec for providing the new awnings at the CTC-Hull courts and for all the work they do to help keep our restrooms and other facilities clean and welcoming.

A special SHOUT OUT to you the CTC players who reinstalled the windscreens when the wind takes them down as well as those who pick up empty bottles and trash to keep all our courts in beautiful condition.

See you on the courts! Linda
