Hi member,

Hope you’re staying cool as you play during these sizzling summer days. Remember to hydrate, take breaks, and seek shade. Other than that, enjoy the long daylight hours of play at our many Chesterfield courts.
Our July issue includes an intro to our PCCC Leadership, so members have a better idea of who does what. Say hello when you run into any of these dedicated volunteers.

In this Issue:
  • Rockwood Independence Day Gathering
  • Caring for CTC Electric Fans
  • Tournament in Virginia Beach
  • Excel Whiz Needed
  • Meet the PCCC Leaders

Rockwood Independence Day Gathering

Join us at Rockwood at 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM on Independence Day for our annual gathering of pickleball, socializing, and breakfast fare.

Caring for Electric Fans at CTC

Please leave the large fans under the canopy at all times. If you are there at night, please unplug them and put the end of the cords up on the fence, out of the water, if it rains. These fans are there to encourage people to take breaks under the canopy, not to make playing longer more comfortable. The small fans can be used courtside but please put them away when you leave. Rain and electrical appliances do not go well together, and could actually cause injury if not unplugged and turn off. And for goodness sake, don't take a fan away from others to put on your court!

Tournament in Virginia Beach in October

This is a Pro Tournament which drew the biggest names in pickleball and promises to do the same this year. Anna Leigh Waters, Ben Johns and many other pros were there. Mark your calendars for Oct 7 through the 12th and consider a visit to the beach in off season to play, volunteer or to cheer on the pros and your own local players. More info on this later!

Excel Whiz Needed

Are you spreadsheet savvy? Can you dominate with Data Filter? PCCC can really use your talents twice a year as we prepare our lists after league registrations. This takes place late August/early September, and once again in late March. Our VP Lisa who has been doing this is stepping down soon, but is available now to explain the process to her successor. Please consider volunteering your talents to the Club for these key periods of the year. To learn more, contact Lisa Murphy at 804-955-5157 or Volunteer1808@yahoo.com

Meet Our PCCC Leaders

PCCC President – Linda Scott - Linda founded PCCC together with husband Dave and has been “growing pickleball in Chesterfield County” ever since. They began by taping pickleball lines over the Rockwood tennis courts, introducing players to this addictive sport, and eventually lobbying Chesterfield county to eventually build all the dedicated courts we have today. In addition to teaching the sport to hundreds, Linda is also a USA Pickleball Ambassador, dedicated advocate to Club growth within the County, and fearless innovator in “all things pickleball”.

PCCC Vice President – Lisa Murphy – Retiring from board 9/2025 - Lisa has served as club vice president for five years after coordinating the Advanced Beginner League for several seasons. Her work includes managing the spreadsheets for county and insurance reporting, reporting league registration data to Chesterfield County, and publishing the monthly newsletter based on content from Linda Scott, President.

PCCC Vice President Elect– Colby Rogness - Colby has been sharing his technical systems expertise and pickleball organization skills with PCCC for the last 3 years. As our new Vice President, he will continue to manage our expanding League Registration platform and consult on our web platform. His knowledge of how leagues work is indispensable.

PCCC Secretary – Gloria Lambert - Gloria has been PCCC Secretary since 2017 and has been on the courts since Sept 2010. Her primary responsibility involves adding and maintaining the membership rolls, which currently number over 2,700. Gloria is our Rockwood Court Ambassador, greeting newcomers and overseeing the smooth coordination of Open Play.

PCCC Treasurer – David King – Serving on the Board as Treasurer is just one more volunteer role for pickleball David has assumed. He oversees our expenses and accounts, balances our ledgers, and is key in securing insurance for the club. Dave is well loved and known for the many classes, clinics and drills he’s offered through the years.

League Co-Commissioners - Debra Murphy and Maggie Wojtowicz Debra and Maggie manage our PCCC Pickleball Leagues. You’ll be hearing more from them as we rev up for fall registrations in August.

Communications Director - Dawn Hampton – Beginning in August, Dawn will begin publishing our monthly PCCC newsletter, and assisting with our Facebook administration. She will also be on hand to assist with our web content and apply her wealth of media knowledge.

Community Relations Director – Leslie Moore – After serving as our Treasurer for many years, Leslie remains a “Jack of All Trades” in keeping the club running. She steps up in any capacity when asked. In addition to a myriad of ambassador tasks, Leslie was instrumental in getting our indoor Ramsey location up and running.

See you on the courts!
