As the cold and ice continue to blanket the landscape, we can’t help but dream of our Spring Leagues. They simply can’t get here soon enough.
Go ahead and mark your calendars now! The leagues will run from Wednesday, April 1st through Wednesday, May 27th. Look for a special email later this month for registration information.
In the meantime, please consider volunteering as a league coordinator. It is an exciting opportunity to be part of what makes our leagues the best! Full support is provided.

Bring The Heat! Survey
Are you 18–29 (or know someone who is) and interested in pickleball? We are exploring the possibility of launching a new league for this age group. We want to hear from you before moving forward, so if you will take three minutes to put your opinions in our survey, it would really help us to create the best league possible.
Please share this link with friends, family members, coworkers, and anyone ages 18–29 who may be interested. The more responses we receive, the better informed we’ll be as we explore launching this exciting opportunity!

Court Updates: CTC Resurfacing
Over the years, the PCCC has contributed financially to several pickleball court projects, which have resulted in pickleball taking off in Chesterfield County. At the same time, we are fortunate to have a close, positive working relationship with the county. It is this history and partnership that are making it possible for us to secure resurfacing at CTC sooner than scheduled.
The County, through the Parks and Rec Program, is responsible for the maintenance of all outdoor courts. We were told that other courts have a greater need for resurfacing than CTC. However, our club players repeatedly voiced their concerns about the courts at CTC needing to be resurfaced ASAP. We heard you.
The PCCC has offered to fund the resurfacing so that the project could move forward--this year. This is where league fees are used to benefit all pickleball players.
Parks and Rec has negotiated a contract with Tennis Courts, Inc. to get the best price and warranty. The resurfacing work will take place this summer between league seasons, and the County predicts that the courts will only be out of commission for about two weeks.
We are looking forward to the benefits of a smoother, safer court under our feet at CTC!

"Galentine's Day" Anyone?
February 14th is coming up soon, and it's no longer just about romance. Friends are now getting together to celebrate their "galentines". What better opportunity than an afternoon on the courts?

More Paddles Donated and Distributed
The PCCC has many members making positive contributions to promote pickleball in our community, and we are so grateful for their selfless efforts.
Tammy Garber recently delivered 37 pickleball paddles and a large quantity of indoor and outdoor balls to Deep Creek Middle School. Of the 37 paddles collected over the last several months (most donated by players in our community), 25 were used and 12 were new!
Deep Creek Middle has a couple of new courts, and Tammy was motivated to gather enough equipment to create a “worthwhile starting point” for the school’s PE program. Quietly going about her mission, Tammy shared that she is “just a grandparent who loves pickleball” and who wants the game to be fun and accessible to school kids.
Tammy has recently connected with another of our pickleball angels, Carol Bechtler, and together they will be collecting equipment for Swift Creek Middle.
To donate equipment, please text Tammy at 804-248-8587 or Carol at 804-839-0989 (please include your name and let them know it’s for the Paddles for Schools project).

Chesterfield County Parks & Rec News
Chesterfield County Parks and Rec held their "Listening Meeting" in January. Here are the notable takeaways:
- There will not be a printed bulletin for class schedules in the future. It will all be online. However, each Rec Center is expected to have their own classes posted.
- The Rec Centers no longer follow the school closings; they will be separate and will be determined by the status of the Chesterfield offices. We were told that if the County offices are open, then the Rec Centers will be, too.
- The floors will (finally) be replaced at Stonebridge! For those not familiar with Stonebridge, we have been asking for an upgrade to a wooden floor for a long time, so that the floor is more compatible with pickleball and the other various sports activities at the center. There is no date yet, but it might be as soon as this summer. This is great news!
