Chesterfield Pickleball News
Happy Thanksgiving to each of you dear members of our Pickleball Family. I am thankful to you for being kind, inclusive, caring, and supportive while celebrating our members’ many victories in tournaments (hooray!) to welcoming new players as they are finding this great game of ours. I am also thankful for those who take good care of our courts and help to keep them well-maintained. A shout out to Jim Weathersby who helps a great deal at CTC even though he doesn’t play at that location anymore. That is dedication.
The stated goal of PCCC is to grow the sport of pickleball in Chesterfield County (and beyond). That said, if you know of a location, church gym, or large empty space etc. where pickleball can be played, please let me know (pickleball4all@aol.com) and I will contact them to help get things started.

We are proud and fortunate to have PCCC member Lynze Kapp among our ranks, and pleased to honor her as November Member of the Month.
Among her many, many contributions to Chesterfield Pickleball, Lynze has served as League Commissioner for the past four seasons. In this capacity she streamlined the registration process to create on-line registrations, devoted countless hours to supporting existing leagues and promoting new ones and infused a high level of fun for all league play.
As Commissioner, Lynze helped clearly define competitive DUPR leagues and purely recreational leagues, and is a champion for all league coordinators in organizing the court dates and times needed. Under her stewardship the number of leagues has grown to a current total of 16, providing excellent play time and comradery for over 500 pickleball players a season! In addition, Lynze has agreed to work with the new Commissioner for the Spring League to facilitate continued league play for Chesterfield County.
The time commitment and dedication Lynze (a working mom with five children!) has devoted to PCCC has benefitted hundreds of PCCC players and league coordinators. Thank you Lynze!

Did You Know? The moment the ball is served: Neither of the server’s feet may touch the court on or inside the baseline. (USA Pickleball Official Rulebook - Section 4 – The Serve, Service Sequence, and Scoring Rules 4.A.4 )

Honoring the Namesakes of Our Parks – Harry Daniel
Our thanks to Holly Angel, Chesterfield Parks and Recreation for providing information
Dozens of county pickleball players choose Harry Daniel Park at Iron Bridge (HD) as their favorite. This is Chesterfield’s largest park at 187 acres including 14 playing fields, picnic shelters, tennis and pickleball courts, and walking trails. The park opened in 1986 and was re-named in 2003 to honor Harry Daniel, who served on the Board of Supervisors for 20 years. Mr. Daniel was instrumental in the establishment of Iron Bridge Park, which is enjoyed by so many each day.
