Rotational Play Policies Apply to All

While Open/Rotational Play works well, it is not functioning properly at the CTC-Hull courts. Many players tell me that even with the notes near the paddle racks, they don't really understand how it is supposed to work.
|
Reserved Open Play Hours are 8:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. June - September. I plan to be at CTC-Hull each Saturday morning in August when it is most crowded to advise everyone how Open/Rotational play should work. This ensures anyone who shows up to play will have the opportunity to play just as often as every other player.

We are very fortunate to have paddle racks, which allow a fair system of court rotation. At some places and where we have played in The Villages in Florida, players are forced to stand in line and wait for their turn to play. Paddle racks allow you to move about and talk to other players while you await your turn. However, you do have to pay attention so you know when your group is up. To keep things moving smoothly, clearly mark your paddle with your name (and emergency contact info).

A big thanks to Robin Terrell who is building a paddle rack for Scott Pickleball Center – Rockwood. We appreciate you Robin!

Parks and Rec is currently looking into replacing the torn/worn out divider nets at CTC, and it will be a process. They may use chain link fences instead of the soft divider nets. They are looking into adding more gates to make it easier to access the courts. Chain link would require a lot less maintenance. No decision has been made at this time.

Court Time during League Season
|
If you don’t join a league, but want to play during the time the courts are reserved, there are multiple options for you.
|
- Try out another location where there is no league at that time. There are so many options now, not only at the 5 outdoor locations in Chesterfield but also in Richmond, Henrico, Hanover, and Powhatan. Our PCCC calendar shows all league reservations.
- Play before league play begins and leave the courts when the reserved time starts. Most evening leagues begin at 6:00 p.m. The Coordinator of that league will tell you if there will be additional courts open that evening, and we will try to post that info on FACEBOOK that afternoon. There are always at least 2 courts open at CTC and 1 court at each of the other locations during reserved league time. The courts will be marked so you can easily determine which courts are available.
- Play once league time is over. Most evening league play wraps up around 8:30 .
- Always check the Calendar so you won't be disappointed if you arrive and the courts are not all available. The PCCC calendar is on our website, Facebook page, and Chesterfield.gov. Paper copies are posted at the CTC and HD kiosks.
Open/Rotational Play/Leagues, Tournaments, Classes, Clinics, Boot Camps are all part of our wonderful thriving pickleball community. Let's have fun! That is what pickleball is all about.
